1. Who We Are

This website is operated by Shaun Hern, author and speaker, doing business as GrandpaDad. The website address is shaunhern.com. You can reach Shaun directly at shaun@shaunhern.com.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect information only when you voluntarily provide it through one of the forms on this site. This includes:

• Newsletter signup form: first name, last name (optional), email address, area of interest (optional), and a personal note (optional).
• Contact form: first name, last name (optional), email address, phone number (optional), city and state (optional), reason for contact, your message, and whether you would like to join the mailing list.
• Speaking inquiry form: name, email, phone (optional), organization name, event details, audience description, and your message.

We do not collect any information automatically beyond what standard web hosting logs (such as Cloudflare) may capture for security and performance purposes. We do not use tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

Information you provide is used solely for the purpose for which you gave it:

• Newsletter subscribers receive periodic emails from Shaun — stories, faith reflections, book updates, and speaking announcements. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Contact form submissions are read personally by Shaun and used to respond to your inquiry.
• Speaking inquiries are used to evaluate and respond to booking requests.

We do not use your information for automated profiling, targeted advertising, or any purpose beyond direct communication with you.

4. How Your Information Is Stored

Form submissions on this site are currently processed and stored using browser-based local storage on your device, and are accessible only to Shaun through a password-protected administrative interface. We are actively working to migrate to a secure server-side database. In the meantime, submissions are not transmitted to or stored by any third-party marketing or data platform without your explicit consent.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may log standard web request data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance purposes, subject to Cloudflare's own Privacy Policy.

5. Your Consent

By submitting any form on this site, you consent to Shaun Hern using your information to respond to your inquiry and, where you have opted in, to send you newsletter communications.

The mailing list opt-in on the contact form is voluntary and clearly labeled. Submitting the contact form without checking the mailing list box does not add you to the newsletter.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information at any time
• Withdraw consent for newsletter communications by unsubscribing or emailing Shaun directly

To exercise any of these rights, email shaun@shaunhern.com with your request. Shaun will respond personally within 5 business days.

7. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes. Ever.

The only external services this site uses are:

• Cloudflare Pages — website hosting (their privacy policy)
• Anthropic Claude API — used to generate personalized acknowledgment messages when you submit a form. Your name, email, reason for contact, and message excerpt may be sent to Anthropic's API for this purpose only. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy. No data is retained by Anthropic beyond the processing of your request.
• Amazon — book purchase links redirect to Amazon. Amazon's privacy practices are governed by Amazon's Privacy Notice.
• Shopify — merchandise links redirect to shaunhern.myshopify.com, governed by Shopify's Privacy Policy.
• Facebook — community links redirect to Facebook. Facebook's practices are governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.

8. Cookies

This site does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set essential security cookies as part of its hosting service. No cookie consent banner is displayed because no non-essential cookies are used.

9. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, please contact us at shaun@shaunhern.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
